Netmarble Announces Development of New Game Based on Web Novel Shangri
One of the leading South Korean publishers and developers of mobile games, Netmarble, has announced the start of work on a new project based on the popular Japanese web novel Shangri-La Frontier. The title is currently being serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine and boasts over 500 million views in Japan.
There are no details on the future game, but based on the original, the plot will unfold in the near future around a high school student named Rakuro Hizutome, who loves to play only unpopular games. However, he later decides to try out a best-selling VR game with 30 million active players called Shangri-La Frontier. From this moment begins his new adventure as a character with the nickname Sunraku.
The game is being developed by a team from Nexus, a sister studio to Netmarble, which is known for creating the Seven Knights series. Nothing is known about the platforms and release yet, but its release is most likely to be expected next year, when the premiere of the anime based on this work from the C2C studio will take place. By the way, Netmarble is aiming for a global release of this game.
